Trust and safety

How we keep the search honest.

What a coverage check really does, how listed businesses differ from web results, what happens to your details and photos, and how to tell us when something goes wrong.

Two kinds of results

Businesses on Callbook

Local businesses that run their scheduling on Callbook and chose to be listed. They appear first when their service area covers your ZIP. They commit to a written estimate before any work and a three-hour arrival window. Requests you send through this site go to them.

Other local businesses

Found by a live web search for your service and ZIP, with the phone number and website taken from their own site. They look the same on the page, but Callbook has not vetted, booked or been paid by them. Confirm the work, area and availability with them directly.

Nothing on the results page is an advertisement, and no business pays to appear higher. Businesses on Callbook come first because they are the ones a request can actually reach.

What a coverage check does

A coverage check looks at which listed businesses and network partners serve your ZIP code right now. It does not reserve a technician, create an appointment or charge anything. When nobody on Callbook covers your area you still see other local businesses, and you can leave one contact method to hear when coverage reaches you.

Estimates and payment

A request starts an estimate review, not a booking. Scope, price, any diagnostic or visit fee and the arrival window are confirmed with you before you approve service. When a business collects a diagnostic fee up front, the card on the results page says so and whether it is credited to the repair. You never pay through this site.

Your details and photos

  • Your name, chosen contact method, ZIP code, answers and any service address are used to review and coordinate the request, and are shared with the business that will do the work.
  • Web searches for other local businesses use only the service, the recognized project type and the ZIP code. Your contact details, street address, notes and photos are never sent to a search provider.
  • Photos are optional. They are private to authorized reviewers and the assigned business, and are removed after 90 days. Avoid people, documents and access codes in photos.
  • The two questions before the search stay in your browser tab and only pre-fill a request you choose to send.

The privacy notice has the full list, including how to ask about or delete your information.

Safety comes before a visit

Our guides and request flow only ever ask you to look, listen and describe. They never ask you to open panels, touch wiring or gas, climb a ladder or handle springs and chemicals. If there is smoke, a gas smell, sparking, water near electrical equipment or anyone in danger, leave the area and call your utility or emergency services first. The businesses here handle routine work and are not an emergency line.

Reporting a problem

If a business listed on Callbook did not honor its estimate or arrival window, or a web result turned out to be wrong or unsafe, tell us at hello@getcallbook.com with the business name, your ZIP and what happened. Listed businesses that repeatedly fall short are removed from the site. See the contact page for other addresses.
