Bosch Appliance Repair: Common Problems, Codes and Support

What Bosch dishwasher, refrigerator, washer, dryer and range owners report most, what codes like E24 and E15 mean, where the E-Nr tag is and when to call.

Bosch home appliances in the United States are sold and serviced by BSH Home Appliances Corporation. Bosch is best known here for dishwashers, and it also sells refrigerators, laundry, ranges, wall ovens, cooktops and ventilation.

This page covers the problems Bosch owners report most, what each points to, where the model number (E-Nr) is, how to get the manual and error codes, how the warranty works, and when an independent repair business is the right choice. It is not affiliated with Bosch or BSH.

Callbook is not affiliated with, authorized by or endorsed by Bosch. This page is written for owners of its products; warranty service may need to go through the maker.

Common problems and what they usually point to

Dishwasher shows E24 or E25, or will not drain

These codes point to draining. The usual causes are a clogged filter in the sump, a blocked drain hose or air gap, a garbage disposal knockout that was never removed, or a stuck impeller or failed drain pump. Owners can clean the filter; a pump is a technician job.

Dishwasher shows E15

Water has collected in the base pan and tripped the leak sensor. It can follow a small leak at the door, a hose or a seal, and it stops the dishwasher until the base is dry and the leak is found.

Refrigerator too warm or ice maker stopped

A defrost problem, a failed evaporator fan, dirty condenser coils or a door that does not seal. For ice, an overdue filter, a frozen fill tube, or a failed inlet valve or ice maker. Built-in models that lose cooling entirely are a sealed-system job.

Compact washer or dryer not finishing a cycle

On a washer, a drain pump filter that needs cleaning or a door lock fault; on a ventless or heat pump dryer, a full lint filter, a blocked condenser or a full water container.

Oven or range not heating or showing a code

A failed bake or convection element, an igniter on gas models, a temperature sensor or the control module. Codes on the display map to the table in the owner's manual.

Model numbers, manuals and warranty

  • Bosch identifies each appliance by its E-Nr (model number), printed on the rating plate with the FD date code. On a dishwasher the plate is on the edge of the door; on a refrigerator inside on a side wall; on a washer or dryer inside the door opening or on the back; on an oven on the frame when the door is open. The Bosch manuals page can read the plate from a phone photo.
  • Owner manuals and spec sheets are on the Bosch owner manuals page, searched by E-Nr. The manual has the error-code table for that model, and the support site has FAQ and troubleshooting articles by product.
  • Bosch states that most of its major appliances carry a one-year parts-and-labor limited warranty, and that dishwashers add parts-only coverage on electronics and racks in years two through five. Warranty service is arranged by Bosch through authorized servicers; an outside repair inside the warranty period is usually not reimbursed.
  • Bosch lists support for major appliances at 1-800-944-2904, a text option (text Support to 21432) and email forms. Service visits can be booked online through the Bosch repair service page.

When a local repair business is the right call

  • The appliance is past its warranty and you want a local technician and a quote.
  • A dishwasher needs a drain pump, circulation pump, heater or control module after the owner-accessible checks (filter, hose, air gap) have been done.
  • A refrigerator needs sealed-system work (compressor, evaporator, refrigerant), which requires EPA-certified refrigerant handling.
  • A gas range or cooktop needs igniter, valve or gas-line work.
  • The fix is a control module that has to be ordered by E-Nr and may need programming after installation.

Questions people ask

My Bosch dishwasher shows E24. What should I check first?

Clean the filter in the bottom of the tub, make sure the drain hose is not kinked, and if the dishwasher drains into a garbage disposal, confirm the knockout plug was removed. If the code returns, the drain pump or its impeller is the usual cause and a technician can replace it.

Why are my dishes wet after a Bosch cycle?

Bosch uses condensation drying, which depends on rinse aid and hot dishes at the end of the cycle. Fill the rinse aid dispenser; plastics will still be damp. If glassware and plates are wet with rinse aid in use, the heater or a sensor may have failed.

Can an independent technician get Bosch parts?

Yes. BSH parts are sold through appliance parts distributors and are ordered by E-Nr, so have it ready when you book.

Does an independent repair affect the Bosch warranty?

Bosch will not pay for repairs it did not arrange and can decline to cover damage caused by outside work, but cannot void the whole warranty over it. Inside the warranty, start with Bosch.
