Electrolux Appliance Repair: Common Problems and Support

What Electrolux washer, dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher and range owners report most, what each symptom points to, where the model tag is and when to call.

Electrolux is a Swedish appliance group whose North American business also owns the Frigidaire brand. In the United States the Electrolux name goes on the higher end of that lineup: front-load laundry, counter-depth refrigerators, dishwashers and ranges, often sold alongside Frigidaire Gallery and Professional models that share parts with them.

This page covers the problems Electrolux owners report most, what each points to, where the model tag is, how to get the manual, how the warranty works, and when an independent repair business is the better call. It is not affiliated with Electrolux.

Callbook is not affiliated with, authorized by or endorsed by Electrolux. This page is written for owners of its products; warranty service may need to go through the maker.

What people own

  • Front-load washers with steam and allergen cycles, and matching electric and gas dryers.
  • Compact laundry for closets and stacked installations.
  • Counter-depth French door and side-by-side refrigerators, and built-in refrigerator and freezer columns.
  • Dishwashers with top or front controls.
  • Freestanding and slide-in electric, gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges, and wall ovens.
  • Cooktops, range hoods and microwaves.

Common problems and what they usually point to

Front-load washer not draining or showing a drain code

A clogged drain pump filter, a kinked or blocked drain hose, or a failed drain pump. Owners can clean the filter on most models; a pump is a technician repair.

Dryer not heating or taking two cycles

A restricted vent first. Then a heating element, thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat on an electric dryer, or an igniter, flame sensor or gas valve coil on a gas dryer.

Refrigerator too warm or ice maker stopped

A defrost fault, a failed evaporator fan, dirty condenser coils or a door that does not seal. For ice, an overdue filter, a frozen fill tube, or a failed inlet valve or ice maker. Built-in columns that lose cooling entirely are a sealed-system job.

Dishwasher not draining or not drying

A clogged filter, a blocked drain hose or air gap, or the drain pump. Wet dishes usually mean the rinse-aid dispenser is empty, the water is not hot enough or the heater has failed.

Oven not heating or showing an F code

A bake element on an electric oven or an igniter on a gas oven, a temperature probe, a door lock on self-cleaning models or the control board. The code table for your model is in the owner's manual.

Model numbers, manuals and warranty

  • The model and serial tag is a sticker: inside the door opening or on the back panel of a washer or dryer, on an inside wall of a refrigerator, on the edge of a dishwasher door, and behind the oven door or inside the storage drawer of a range.
  • Electrolux publishes owner's manuals on its owner support site, searched by model number. The manual includes the troubleshooting section and error-code table for that model.
  • A new Electrolux appliance carries a limited warranty from the date of purchase; the length and terms are on the warranty page of the manual. Warranty repairs are arranged by Electrolux through its authorized service network; an independent repair inside the warranty period is usually not reimbursed.
  • Register the appliance after purchase so proof of purchase is on file for a later claim.
  • Support contact options (phone, chat and email) are listed on the Electrolux owner support site. Have the model and serial number and the date of purchase ready.
  • Electrolux and Frigidaire appliances share parts and service procedures, so a repair business that works on one is usually familiar with the other.

When a local repair business is the right call

  • The appliance is out of its warranty and you want a local technician and a quote rather than factory service or a replacement.
  • A refrigerator or freezer needs sealed-system work (compressor, evaporator, refrigerant leak), which requires EPA-certified refrigerant handling.
  • A gas range or gas dryer needs igniter, valve or gas-line work.
  • A front-load washer needs tub bearings, a spider arm or a drum, which means a full teardown.
  • The fix is a control board, user interface or motor control that has to be ordered for the exact model.

Questions people ask

Are Electrolux and Frigidaire parts the same?

Often, yes. Both brands are made by the same company and many current models share pumps, elements, sensors and boards. A technician checks by model number rather than by brand.

My front-load washer smells. Is that a repair?

Usually not. Residue builds up in the door boot and drum when loads are washed cold with too much detergent. Run the cleaning cycle with a washer cleaner, wipe the boot and leave the door open between loads. If water sits in the boot or the drum after a cycle, the drain pump or filter needs attention.

Can an independent technician get Electrolux parts?

Yes. Electrolux and Frigidaire parts are stocked by appliance parts distributors, so common repairs rarely wait on parts. Some control boards are ordered by model and take longer.

Is my Electrolux appliance under recall?

Search the model number on the CPSC recalls list or recalls.gov. Recalls apply to specific model and serial ranges, so a match on the brand alone does not mean your unit is affected.
